Burn subtitles into video: write SRT or VTT permanently into the picture

With this tool you can burn subtitles into a video: add the video and an SRT or WebVTT file, choose font size, colour and position, and the text is written permanently into the picture. The result is a new video in which the subtitles show everywhere. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Burn subtitles into video: what it means

Burned-in subtitles (“hardsubs”) are part of the picture. You cannot switch them off, but they appear in every player, on every platform and in every messenger preview. That helps with videos in social networks that play without sound and with devices that do not show a subtitle track. This tool recalculates every frame and writes the text onto it.

How it works

  1. Drag the video in or choose it (MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV).
  2. Paste subtitles as SRT or WebVTT or choose a file. The tool shows how many entries it found.
  3. Choose font size, position, colour and background; the preview shows a still frame.
  4. Click “Burn subtitles in”, check the result and download it.

What to watch out for

Privacy

The video is read from your device piece by piece; there is no upload and no server that sees it.
