Online Calculator
Type a calculation or use the keypad – the answer appears as you type. Below it you can see the exact order in which it was worked out.

How it is calculated
This online calculator follows the order of operations (PEMDAS/BODMAS): brackets first, then exponents, then multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction. So 2 + 3 × 4 = 14, not 20. Every intermediate step is shown, so you can check your own working.
How to use the calculator
- Type: write the calculation straight into the box – digits, + − × ÷ (or * and /), brackets, % and ^ for powers.
- Tap: the keypad inserts at the cursor. C clears everything, ⌫ deletes the last character, ± flips the sign of the whole expression.
- = (or Enter) saves the calculation to the history. Press an operator next to keep going with the answer.
Order of operations
Brackets are evaluated first, then powers (x²), then multiplication and division, and finally addition and subtraction – operations of equal rank from left to right. A number directly in front of a bracket means “times”: 6 ÷ 2(1 + 2) is read as (6 ÷ 2) × 3 = 9. That is how most school calculators read it; some models give “implied multiplication” priority and return 1, so add an explicit × or bracket when in doubt.
Percentages
The % key works like a desk calculator: 200 + 10% = 220 (mark-up), 200 − 10% = 180 (discount), 200 × 10% = 20 (share). For percentage change, reverse percentages and more, use the percentage calculator.
Precision and limits
Numbers are IEEE 754 double-precision floating point, and the answer is rounded to 15 significant digits – which is why 0.1 + 0.2 shows 0.3 instead of 0.30000000000000004. Very large or small results appear as a × 10^n, and simple fractions (denominator up to 10,000) are shown as well: 0.75 = 3/4. For sine, logarithms and factorials switch to the scientific calculator; for exact fractions use the fraction calculator.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a free calculator online without an app?
Yes – this page. It works in any browser on phone, tablet or computer, with no sign-up. Bookmark it or add it to your home screen to open it with one tap.
Does this calculator use PEMDAS/BODMAS?
Yes. Brackets and exponents come first, then multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction, each from left to right: 2 + 3 × 4 = 14. The working shows every step.
How do I calculate a percentage on a calculator?
For a mark-up type 200 + 20% (240), for a discount 80 − 25% (60), and for a share 350 × 15% (52.5). The % key behaves like a desk calculator.
Can the calculator do fractions?
Type fractions as division: 3/4 + 1/8 gives 0.875 and also shows 7/8 as a fraction. For mixed numbers and simplifying with steps, the fraction calculator is the better tool.
Why do some calculators show 0.1 + 0.2 = 0.30000000000000004?
Computers store decimals in binary, where 0.1 is a never-ending fraction and gets rounded very slightly. This calculator rounds the answer to 15 significant digits, so it shows 0.3.
