Edit a PDF in Your Browser
Edit PDF files – cover a typo, add an address, fill in a form or black out a name: everything happens in your browser. The PDF is never uploaded, and there is no daily limit and no watermark.

How it is calculated
Edit a PDF without uploading it
Most online PDF editors send your document to a server – awkward for contracts, tax letters or job applications. Here your browser opens the PDF itself: the preview uses pdf.js and the editing uses pdf-lib, both open source and only loaded once you open a file.
How it works
- Drop or choose a PDF. The first page appears as a preview; use ‹ › to turn pages.
- Pick a tool: Text (tap the page), Image (e.g. a logo or stamp), Cover or Redact (drag a rectangle).
- With “Select” you move elements, resize them with the round handle, or delete them.
- If the PDF has form fields, they appear below as input boxes.
- “Save PDF” downloads the new PDF; your original stays unchanged.
Cover or redact?
| Cover | Redact | |
|---|---|---|
| Looks like | white rectangle | black rectangle |
| Text underneath | stays in the file (can be copied) | is removed |
| Page | stays text | is rebuilt as an image (150 dpi) |
| Good for | covering a typo and writing over it | names, account numbers, confidential passages |
A black box drawn over text is not a redaction: the text is still in the file and can be copied out – a well-known mistake that has caught out government agencies. That is why this tool rebuilds pages with redactions as images and assembles the document from scratch, so the old page does not remain in the file. Unchanged pages stay as text.
Honest limits
- Changing existing text is not possible directly – PDFs store text as placed characters, not paragraphs. The usual way: cover the old text in white and put new text on top.
- Font: inserted text uses Helvetica or Noto Sans (Latin, Greek, Cyrillic). Text in other scripts (e.g. Japanese) is inserted as an image.
- Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened; digital signatures become invalid with any change.
- After redacting, text on those pages is no longer searchable. Also check bookmarks and the file name – they are not changed.
Privacy
The PDF stays on your device: no upload, nothing is stored. For special characters the page loads the Noto Sans font from this website when needed.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The PDF is opened, edited and saved as a new file in your browser. It never leaves your device.
How do I add text to a PDF?
Choose the “Text” tool, tap the spot and type in the box below. You can set size and colour, and move the text with “Select”.
Can I edit the existing text in a PDF?
Not directly. Cover the old text with “Cover” and put new text on top. On screen and in print it looks changed, but the old text is still in the file. If it must really disappear, redact it.
Is the redaction really secure?
Yes, the content under a redaction is removed: the page is rebuilt as an image and the document is assembled from scratch, so the old page does not remain in the file. A plain black box is not enough – the text underneath would still be copyable.
Can I fill in PDF forms?
Yes, if the PDF has real form fields. They appear below the preview. Choose “Flatten form” so nobody can change the answers afterwards. Forms without fields can be filled in with the Text tool.
Is it free, without sign-up?
Yes – no account, no watermark and no daily limit.
