How it is calculated

A simple list becomes a designed menu on one or more A4 or Letter pages. Sections get a coloured heading with a rule, dishes sit on the left and the prices are right-aligned at the margin.

How it works

  1. Enter the name of the venue and, if you like, a subtitle.
  2. Write the dishes in the list, one line per dish: “Tomato soup ; $6.50”. A line with “# ” in front is a section (starters, mains …), a line with “- ” in front is a description under the dish.
  3. Choose accent colour and text size. The preview shows the first page at once.
  4. Create the PDF and print it on heavier paper or laminate it.

Practical notes

Honest limits

There is one typeface, no images or logos, and the menu runs in a single column. For elaborate designs use a layout program. Emojis cannot be printed.

Privacy

The list is processed only in your browser and is not stored anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a restaurant menu for free?

Write the dishes with prices in the list (Name ; Price), mark sections with “# ”, choose title and colour and create the PDF. No account and no installation needed.

Can I add descriptions to the dishes?

Yes: a line starting with “- ” directly under the dish appears smaller and grey below it, for example for ingredients or allergen notes.

Do menus have to list allergens?

In the EU allergens must be identifiable even for unpackaged food, in writing or with a clear pointer to staff. Check the rules of your country.

How many dishes fit on one page?

About 30 to 35 lines on A4 at normal size. Longer menus continue on further pages automatically.
