How it is calculated

This free business card maker gives you a PDF you can send straight to an online printer or print at home on business card stock.

How it works

1. Enter your name, job title, company and contact details – the preview updates instantly.
2. Pick a layout, colors and, optionally, a logo. The back shows your logo, company and tagline.
3. Choose the output: single card for a print shop, or a Letter/A4 sheet to print yourself.
4. Click “Create PDF”.

What size is a business card?

In the US and Canada the standard is 3.5 × 2 inches (88.9 × 50.8 mm). The UK and most of Europe use 85 × 55 mm, Japan 91 × 55 mm and Brazil often 90 × 50 mm. Credit card size under ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1 (85.60 × 53.98 mm) fits any wallet card slot. Sources for every size are listed below.

Bleed and crop marks

Printers print on large sheets and cut afterwards. For colors to reach the very edge, the file needs bleed: backgrounds extend beyond the trim size – usually 2–3 mm (3 mm is close to 1/8 in). Always follow your printer’s spec sheet. The PDF includes the trim size (TrimBox) and the bleed box (BleedBox). Crop marks show where to cut; when printing at home they help you trim with a ruler and craft knife. Text stays at least 5 mm (about 3/16 in) inside the edge.

Printing at home

A US Letter sheet holds 10 cards of 3.5 × 2 in without bleed, 8 with bleed. For double-sided cards, page 2 is the back, mirrored so that it lines up behind the front when you flip on the long edge. Print at “Actual size” / 100 %, not “Fit to page”. Card stock of about 80–110 lb cover feels sturdy.

Technical notes and limits

The PDF uses the standard Helvetica font (no embedding needed) and RGB colors. Commercial printers convert RGB to CMYK, so colors may shift slightly. Characters outside Western European scripts (e.g. Cyrillic, Chinese) cannot be shown by the standard font – the tool tells you when that happens. Want a QR code on your card? Privacy

Your name, phone number and address are processed only in your browser: no upload, no browser storage, nothing in the address bar.
