How it is calculated

Converting Word to PDF means putting the text, headings, lists and tables of a document into a fixed file that looks the same on every device. This tool reads the DOCX file (Office Open XML, ECMA-376) right in your browser and lays it out on pages itself. There is no upload, no sign-up and no watermark.

How it works

  1. Drop the DOCX file here or choose it.
  2. Pick the page size (A4 or US Letter), orientation and margin.
  3. Click “Convert to PDF”, check the preview of the first page and download the PDF.

What is kept – and what is not

Page size, margins and font size

The tool does not rebuild Word’s layout. It reads text, headings, lists and tables from the DOCX file and sets them anew. That is why you choose the page size (A4 or US Letter), portrait or landscape, the margin and the font size (9 to 14 pt) yourself; headings and tables follow the base size you pick. The preview shows the first page before you download – if something is off, change a setting and convert again. The page count in the PDF can therefore differ from the one in Word.

Limits

This suits letters, reports, minutes and contracts that are mostly text and tables. If the layout with images, columns and headers has to stay exact, “Save as PDF” in Word itself is the right way.

Privacy

The file never leaves your device. Only the PDF library (pdf-lib, MIT licence) is loaded from this server. Next steps: merge PDF files, compress a PDF or convert PDF to DOCX.

Frequently asked questions

How can I convert Word to PDF for free?

Drop the DOCX file here, choose the page size and click “Convert to PDF”. You download the PDF straight away – no account and no watermark.

Can I convert Word to PDF without uploading the file?

Yes. The conversion runs entirely in your browser and the file is not sent to a server. That also applies on iPhone and Mac.

Is the formatting kept when converting?

Text with bold and italic, headings, lists, tables and links are kept. Images, headers and footers, columns and the original font are not; “Save as PDF” in Word is better for those.

Can I convert a .doc file?

Not directly. Open the file in Word or LibreOffice, save it as .docx and choose that file here.

Why are images missing in the PDF?

This tool only takes over text and tables. Images and charts are counted and reported as not included in the result.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, in Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox – no app needed. On an iPhone the PDF lands in the Files app under “Downloads”.
