Create an ICS file from text or Excel

With this tool you can create an ICS file without a calendar app and without signing up: write one event per line (or paste cells from Excel), optionally choose repeat and reminder – and download a calendar file that iPhone, Android, Google Calendar and Outlook import directly.

Source: IETF – RFC 5545: iCalendar (VEVENT, RRULE, VALARM, schwebende Zeit). Updated: .

Format: date [time-end] title [@ place]. Date as 11/03/2026 or 2026-11-03. Without a time it becomes an all-day event. Rows copied from Excel (date, time, title, place) work too.
How often each event repeats (including the first), 2 to 999. Only used when a repeat is chosen.

The file is created in your browser. Open it on your phone or PC and choose “Import” or “Add”.

How it is calculated

An ICS file is a calendar format (iCalendar, RFC 5545) that every common calendar app imports: iPhone, Android, Google Calendar, Outlook, Thunderbird. Here you create one from a simple text list.

How to write the events

Repeat and reminder

Choose daily, weekly, every two weeks, monthly or yearly and the number of events. The tool writes a recurrence rule (RRULE) into the file and your calendar app creates the single events. Reminders (VALARM) fire before the start; for all-day events at 9 am on the day itself.

Time zone and privacy

Events with a time are saved without a fixed time zone (“floating time”). They apply wherever you import the file, so 2:30 pm stays 2:30 pm. That is ideal for personal events; for online meetings across time zones use an invitation from your calendar app instead. Everything stays in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

How do I create an ICS file?

Enter events as text lines (date, time, title) and click “Download ICS file”. Then open the file in your calendar app and choose “Import”.

Can I create an ICS file from Excel?

Yes. Copy the cells (date, time, title, place side by side) from Excel and paste them into the field. Tabs and semicolons are detected automatically.

Can one ICS file hold several events?

Yes, every line becomes its own event. Up to 500 events per file are possible.

How do I open an ICS file on an iPhone or Android phone?

Tap the file (from mail, downloads or Files) and choose “Add all” or “Import”. In Google Calendar on a PC use Settings and Import.

How do I make a repeating event?

Pick the rhythm and number of events under “Repeat”. Every event in the list then becomes a series, for example a birthday that repeats yearly.

Which time zone does the file use?

None fixed: times apply in your calendar’s time zone. An event at 2:30 pm stays at 2:30 pm there, even when you travel.
