Tally counter online

This tally counter works like the metal hand clicker: every tap adds one. Name up to eight counters to count several things side by side – visitors in and out, birds by species, votes per option – with a running total, a target alert and an undo button.

Tap the number to count

Keyboard: Space, Enter, + or ↑ = count · − or ↓ = subtract · 1–8 = choose counter · U = undo · R = reset

Each line becomes its own counter. Names stay in this browser and are not put into the address bar.
Each tap adds this number – for example 2 for pairs or 10 for bundles.
When a counter reaches the target, you get a sound and a vibration on phones.

How it is calculated

A tally counter adds one with every press – this one does it on screen, with several counters at once and an undo button the metal clicker never had. Everything stays on your device: close the page and the counts are still there when you come back.

How to use the tally counter

  1. Tap the big number to count up. On a computer, press the space bar.
  2. Miscounted? Tap − next to the counter or press Undo.
  3. Need several counters? Type one name per line in the box, for example “In” and “Out”. Each line gets its own button, and the total appears below.
  4. Set a target – such as 100 push-ups or 30 visitors – and the counter signals when it is reached.
  5. Copy counts puts all counters on the clipboard as a table you can paste into a spreadsheet.

Worked example: with the counters “In” and “Out”, 48 taps on In and 13 on Out show a total of 61 taps – and 48 − 13 = 35 people are still inside. The shares read 78.7% and 21.3% of the total.

Tally counter or clicker counter?

Both names mean the same thing: a counter that adds one per click. Ushers, teachers, researchers, coaches and shop staff use them because a tap is faster and more reliable than writing tally marks. This online version adds what a hand clicker cannot: names, several counters, a total, a target and undo.

Keyboard and big screen

Saved on this device

Counts and names are stored in your browser’s local storage – no account, nothing is uploaded. Opening the page in another browser or on another phone starts from zero. “Reset all” sets every counter back to 0 after a second tap, so a stray touch cannot wipe your count.

Frequently asked questions

How does the online tally counter work?

Tap the large number and it goes up by one (or by your step size). Tap − to go down. The count is saved in your browser automatically.

Can I count several things at once?

Yes. Type up to eight names in the counters box, one per line. Each gets its own button, and the total and each share are shown.

Can I count in and out to know how many people are inside?

Yes. Create the counters “In” and “Out”. The people inside are In minus Out – for example 48 − 13 = 35.

Is there an undo button?

Yes. “Undo” reverses the last tap, step by step, for up to 50 steps. The − button subtracts from a single counter.

Will I lose my count if I close the page?

No. The counts are stored in this browser and are back when you return. They are not synced to other devices.

Can I count by 2, 5 or 10?

Yes. Set “Count by” to any whole number from 1 to 100.

Can the counter go below zero?

Only if you tick “Allow negative numbers”. Otherwise it stops at 0.

Does it work without internet?

Once the page has loaded, counting works offline; nothing is sent to a server.

Can I export the counts?

Yes. “Copy counts” copies a table with names and counts that you can paste into a spreadsheet or a message.
