How the countdown works

The target is 12:00 a.m. local time on New Year’s Day, recalculated every second. Families meet for the reunion dinner on New Year’s Eve, the evening before. Example: on 1 November 2026 there are 97 days left – 13 weeks and 6 days.

To find any date in the Chinese lunar calendar, with its zodiac animal, use the Chinese calendar converter. For the Western new year see days until New Year; any other date works with the countdown to a date.

Limits

The countdown runs to midnight on your device clock. Midnight in Beijing or Hong Kong (UTC+8) can be the evening before or the morning of the same day elsewhere – to count down to midnight in Asia, enter the date, the time and the time zone above.
