How the Halloween countdown works
The target is the start of October 31, 12:00 a.m. local time, recalculated every second from the target date and the current time. In the US the clocks change after Halloween (first Sunday in November), so the countdown equals a plain day count there; in the UK and EU the clocks go back a week earlier, which adds one hour.
Example: On October 1, 2026 there are 30 days until Halloween; on September 1 there are 60.
