Years With the Same Calendar As Another Year

Enter a year to find every year with the same calendar as it – same weekday for every date. 2026 has the same calendar as 2015 and 2037, so a 2015 calendar fits 2026 exactly.

Two years share a calendar when 1 January falls on the same weekday and both have 365 days (or both 366). Calculated with the Gregorian leap year rule.

How it is calculated

Two years have the same calendar when 1 January falls on the same weekday and both are either leap years or common years. Then every date falls on the same weekday: 2026 has the same calendar as 2015 and 2037. Common years repeat after 6, 11 or 12 years, leap years after 28 years – or after 12 or 40 years around a century year that is not a leap year (calculated for all years from 1583 to 9999).

2026 starts on a Thursday and has 365 days, just like 2015 and 2037. 2028 is a leap year starting on a Saturday – the nearest match before it is 2000.

Why the gap is 6, 11, 12, 28 or 40 years

A common year moves 1 January on by one weekday (365 days = 52 weeks + 1 day), a leap year by two. Leap years come every 4 years, so a common year usually meets its twin again after 6 or 11 years and a leap year after 28. The Gregorian rule skips the leap day in century years not divisible by 400 – 1900 and 2100 are common years, 2000 was a leap year – which breaks the pattern: 2100 has the same calendar as 2094 and 2106, while the leap year 2088 waits 40 years, until 2128.

Only January and February the same

A leap year and a common year that start on the same weekday agree until 28 February; from 1 March the leap year is one weekday ahead. The details table lists these years separately, for example 2004 and 2032 for 2026.

Whether a year is a leap year is shown by the leap year calculator; the weekday of a single date by the day of the week calculator.

Frequently asked questions

Which year has the same calendar as 2026?

2015 before it and 2037 after it (then 2043). All three start on a Thursday and have 365 days.

Which year has the same calendar as 2027?

2021 and 2038. 2027 starts on a Friday.

Can I reuse a 2015 calendar in 2026?

Yes, every date falls on the same weekday. The comparison covers weekdays only, not public holidays.

Does the calendar repeat every 28 years?

Only for leap years within one century. Common years repeat after 6, 11 or 12 years; leap years near 2100 after 12 or 40 years (2088 → 2128).

Why is 2100 different?

2100 is divisible by 100 but not by 400, so under the Gregorian rule it is not a leap year. That shifts the weekdays of the following years.

Which years can I check?

From 1583, the first full year of the Gregorian calendar (introduced in 1582), up to 9999. All dates are counted in the Gregorian calendar; many countries adopted it later – England and its colonies, for example, only in September 1752 (USNO).
