How it is calculated

How the internship report template works

You choose whether it was school work experience or an internship at university and enter your name, school or university, company, dates and supervisor. Then you write short texts about the company, your tasks and your conclusion, and note in the table what you did and learned each day. The tool assembles a report with cover details, a contents overview, four chapters and a line for the supervisor’s confirmation.

How to structure the report

  1. The company: sector, size, products or services, customers.
  2. My tasks: what you did overall and whom or what you got to know.
  3. Daily log: one short entry per day with the activity and what you learned, ideally written the same evening.
  4. Conclusion: What did you learn? What did you like or not? Can you picture yourself in this job?

What to watch out for

Schools and universities often set precise rules for length, structure and how to hand in the report. Check the guidance from your school or programme and adjust the text in the Word file. Write in your own words, be specific and give examples, and have someone proofread it. Agree with the company beforehand what you may include or hand in, such as internal figures or photos.

Frequently asked questions

How do I write an internship report?

Split it into the company, your tasks, a daily log and a conclusion, write in your own words and be specific, and add cover details with your name, the company and the dates.

How long should an internship report be?

Your school or university decides. Ask about page count, structure and format, and adjust the report accordingly.

What goes into a daily log entry?

The date, what you did and what you learned, in two to five sentences. Write it on the same day if you can.
