How the absence note works

You choose whether a parent explains the child’s absence or you explain your own as an adult student, enter the name, class and dates, and pick the reason: illness, a medical appointment, family reasons or a reason in your own words. The tool assembles a letter with subject line, greeting, the explanation, thanks and a signature line. If needed, it adds a note that a doctor’s note is enclosed.

What schools usually expect

Rules for absences differ by country, region and school. How soon you must report an absence, from which day a doctor’s note is required and whether an email is enough are set by the school or by local education rules. Most schools want to hear on the first day of absence, for example by phone or through the school office, and then a written note when the child returns. Check your school’s attendance policy for the exact deadline.
