Poll maker: create a poll without sign-up

This poll maker creates a poll in a minute: enter a question and answers, send an invitation link and collect the answer codes participants send back – the result appears as bars with percentages. No account and no server are needed; everything stays in your browser. You can also vote on this very device, at a projector or a table.

Source: § 3.5, IETF RFC 3986 – URI Generic Syntax, § 3.5 Fragment (der Teil nach # wird nicht an den Server gesendet). Updated: .

Two to ten answers, each on its own line.

The poll and collected votes stay only in this browser (localStorage) and are never uploaded. The invitation link carries question and answers in the part after the #, which never goes to a server. There is no protection against repeat voting – the tool is not meant for secret or binding votes.

How it is calculated

With this tool you can create a poll without opening an account and without your data ending up on a foreign server. That works because counting happens on your side: participants send you a short answer code and you paste it in.

How to create a poll

  1. Enter the question and answer options (one per line, two to ten) and allow multiple choices if you like. Then “Start poll”.
  2. On the same device: pick an answer and “Cast vote” – ideal in a class, a meeting or at the family table. The bars grow at once.
  3. By link: send the invitation link. Whoever opens it picks an answer and receives a code like 1x4k9.h7q2m.1 to send back.
  4. Paste the received codes (or whole chat messages) under “Paste received answer codes” and choose “Collect answers”. Each code counts only once.

Using the result

The result shows votes per answer and the share of voters. With multiple choice the total can exceed 100% because everyone may pick several answers. You can copy the result as text, download it as CSV (for spreadsheets) or print it.

Honest limits

Privacy

Poll and votes are stored only in your browser’s local storage (localStorage). The invitation link carries the poll in the part after #; per the URL standard this part is not sent to servers. If you clear browser data the poll is gone – copy the result first.

Frequently asked questions

How can I create a poll without signing up?

Enter a question and answers and choose “Start poll”. No account is needed. Then let people vote right on the device or send the invitation link.

How do I see the results when others vote via the link?

After choosing, participants get an answer code and send it to you. You paste the codes under “Paste received answer codes” and the bars update. An automatic live result is not possible without a server.

Can participants vote more than once?

Technically yes: whoever reopens the link can create another code. The tool cannot prevent that. It is therefore not suitable for votes where each person may have only one vote.

Can I make a poll with a QR code?

Indirectly, yes: turn the invitation link into a QR code with this site’s QR code generator and put it on a poster or slide.

Where are the poll and votes stored?

Only in your browser’s local storage on this device. Nothing is sent to a server. If you clear browser data, poll and votes are gone.

Is the poll anonymous?

The answer codes contain no names. The route is still not fully anonymous because you can see who sent the message a code arrives in. Voting on the device creates no personal data.
