How the Kanban board works
- Type a title, choose a column and add the card. The board starts with “To do”, “In progress” and “Done” – rename columns right in their header or add more.
- Move cards: drag them to another column with the mouse, tap ◀ ▶, or focus a card and press Shift + arrow keys (left/right = column, up/down = order).
- ✎ or Enter opens the card: change title, note and colour.
- Optionally set a WIP limit per column: if more cards are in it, the column gets a red border.
Kanban in brief
The Kanban Guide describes Kanban as a way to make the flow of work visible: work items move through defined states from started to finished, everything in between is “work in progress” (WIP), and the team defines how much of it may run at the same time. The board implements this basic idea – columns as states, cards as work items, WIP limits as a warning. It does not measure metrics such as cycle time.
Saving and sharing
The board is stored in your browser (localStorage) and is back on your next visit. “Save as file” creates a JSON file that you can open on another device with “Load file”. “Export CSV” gives a table (column, card, note) for Excel.
Limits
The board is meant for one person on one device – it does not sync and has no shared editing. Dragging may not work on touchscreens in some browsers; use the arrow buttons there.

How does a Kanban board work?
Tasks are cards in columns that show their status, such as “To do”, “In progress” and “Done”. A card moves from left to right until it is finished.
Do I need an account for this Kanban board?
No. The board runs in your browser and saves locally. For other devices, save it as a file and load it there.
What is a WIP limit?
The maximum number of cards that should be in a column at the same time. If it is exceeded, the board marks the column red – it does not block anything.
Can I use the board with a keyboard?
Yes. Tab moves to the cards, Shift + arrow keys move them, Enter edits and Delete removes. All buttons can also be reached with Tab.
Can I have several boards?
One board is active in the browser at a time. Save boards as files and load the one you need.
