Quiz maker: create a quiz and share it by link

Enter a title, add questions and mark the right answer. “Test quiz” lets you play it yourself; “Create link” gives you a link to send by WhatsApp, email or chat. Anyone who opens the link plays the quiz and gets a score.

Your draft is saved in this browser only. The link holds the whole quiz after the # sign – that part is never sent to our server.

      How to make a quiz

      1. Enter a title, e.g. “Birthday quiz” or “Spelling test, unit 3”.
      2. Add questions: multiple choice with 2 to 6 answers, or true or false. Mark the correct answer with the circle in front of it.
      3. Test quiz plays it through once so you can check everything.
      4. Create link gives you a link to copy or send on WhatsApp.

Up to 50 questions per quiz, questions up to 300 and answers up to 150 characters. When playing, multiple-choice answers are shuffled so the right one is not always in the same place.

How can sharing work without a server?

We do not store your quiz. The whole quiz lives in the link, in the part after the # (the fragment). Under the URI standard (RFC 3986, section 3.5) that part is handled by the browser only and is not sent to the server when the page loads – so it never appears in server logs.

To keep the link short, the browser compresses the quiz with Deflate (CompressionStream) and turns it into URL-safe characters (base64url, RFC 4648). Older browsers without compression create a longer, uncompressed link. Links over 8,000 characters are refused: that is the minimum length the HTTP standard (RFC 9110) recommends every program should handle.

      Good to know

Example: A birthday quiz with 12 questions – 8 multiple choice with 4 answers each and 4 true or false. A player who gets 9 right sees “9 of 12 correct (75%)” at the end, plus the 3 missed questions with the right answer.

More for game night and study: practise words with the vocabulary trainer with flashcards, add chance with the spin the wheel tool and keep team scores with the online score keeper.

      Frequently asked questions

Can I make a quiz for free without signing up?

Yes. There is no account and no sign-up. The quiz is built in your browser and stored entirely in the link.

How do I share my quiz?

Tap “Create link”, then copy the link or send it on WhatsApp. Whoever opens it sees the title and number of questions and starts the quiz.

Can I see the other players’ scores?

No. Everyone plays on their own; the score is only shown in their browser and is not collected anywhere. To compare, players can simply send you their result.

How many questions can a quiz have?

Up to 50. Very long questions and answers make the link longer; above 8,000 characters you will be asked to shorten or split the quiz.

Can I edit a quiz someone sent me?

Yes: “Edit as a template” loads it into the editor. Then create a new link; the original link stays as it was.

      Is it suitable for exams?

Only to a limited extent. The correct answers are contained in the link and can be read out with some technical knowledge. It works well for practice, warm-ups, birthdays and team events.
