    How it is calculated

In short: This tool rotates images in 90° steps, by 180° or by any angle, and flips them horizontally or vertically – for many photos at once. JPG files can even be rotated without any quality loss by changing only the EXIF orientation. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

    How it works

    1. Drag in images, choose them or paste with Ctrl + V (up to 50 at once).
    2. Rotate with ↺/↻ and flip with “Horizontal” or “Vertical”. The buttons at the top apply to all images; ↻ in a row applies to that image only.
    3. To straighten a tilted horizon, set a fine angle between −45° and +45°.
    4. Click “Save images” – download them one by one or all as a ZIP.

Background: why photos sometimes appear sideways

Cameras and phones often store a photo the way the sensor saw it and only note in the EXIF field “Orientation” (tag 0x0112, values 1 to 8, Exif standard CIPA DC-008) how it should be turned. Browsers and phones respect this field; some older programs, web forms or printers don’t – and the picture suddenly appears upside down. In “Re-save” mode the rotation is written into the pixels, so the image shows correctly everywhere. In “Lossless” mode the tool changes only the EXIF value instead: 6, for example, means “display rotated 90° clockwise”. The compressed image data stays untouched.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I rotate an image online?

Drop the image here, rotate it with ↺ or ↻ and click “Save images”. It’s free, with no account and no upload – also for many images at once.

How do I rotate a JPG without losing quality?

Choose “Lossless” mode: only the EXIF orientation changes and the image data stays identical. PNG is lossless anyway when re-saved.

Why is my photo rotated after uploading it?

The photo is stored in sensor position and only marked as rotated via EXIF, which the website ignores. “Re-save” mode writes the rotation into the pixels so it looks right everywhere.

How do I flip an image?

“Horizontal” mirrors left and right, “Vertical” flips top and bottom. Handy for selfies where text appears back to front.

Can I rotate an image by just a few degrees?

Yes, with the fine angle in 0.5° steps up to ±45°, for example to straighten a tilted horizon.

How do I rotate an image on iPhone?

In the Photos app, tap Edit, then the crop icon and the rotate button. For many images at once or lossless rotation, open this page in Safari.
