    How it is calculated

In short: This tool cuts an image into equal tiles that form one big picture again on your Instagram profile (grids 3 × 1 to 3 × 5) – or into side-by-side parts for a seamless panorama carousel. Tiles are saved as JPG, 1080 pixels wide, and numbered in the correct posting order. The image is never uploaded.

    How it works

    1. Drag in an image, choose one or paste it with Ctrl + V.
    2. Choose “Profile grid” and the number of rows (3 × 1 = 3 tiles, 3 × 3 = 9 tiles) – or “Panorama carousel” with 2 to 10 images.
    3. Move the crop; the profile preview shows the result.
    4. Click “Split image” – download the tiles one by one or as a ZIP.

    Background: order and format

Your profile shows posts in three columns with the newest at the top left. For the full picture to appear, the bottom-right tile is posted first – the files are numbered accordingly (01 = first). Instagram uploads photos at up to 1080 pixels wide; according to Instagram Help, portrait images up to 3:4 (1080 × 1440) are supported. The profile grid now shows posts in a 3:4 portrait crop, which is why 3:4 is preselected – the tiles then line up without gaps. With 4:5 or 1:1 the grid trims the edges of the preview slightly.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I split a picture into 3 for Instagram?

Choose “Profile grid” and “3 × 1”, move the crop and click “Split image”. Then post tile 01 first, followed by 02 and 03.

In which order should I post the tiles?

Start with no. 1 (bottom right) and post in ascending order. The newest post appears top left, so the picture comes together correctly.

How do I split a panorama for a carousel?

Choose “Panorama carousel” and the number of images. Upload all parts in one post in the order 1, 2, 3 … – swiping then shows one continuous picture.

What size should grid tiles be?

3:4 (1080 × 1440) is preselected because the profile grid currently displays posts that way. 4:5 and 1:1 also work, but the grid then trims the preview edges slightly.

Can I split an image into 9 parts?

    Yes, with “3 × 3”. 3 × 2 (6 parts), 3 × 4 and 3 × 5 are available too.

    Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. The splitting happens in your browser; Instagram only receives something when you post the tiles yourself.
