    How it is calculated

    How spin the bottle works

    1. Enter names, one per line (or separated by commas). Without names, just choose the number of players and the seats are numbered.
    2. Tap Spin. The bottle turns a few times and stops with its neck pointing at one person.
    3. With “Never the same person twice in a row” (3 players or more), the last person picked is skipped on the next spin.

    Is it really fair?

With a real bottle, the push, the table and the label decide – it often ends up pointing the same way. Here the result is fixed before the animation: the browser picks a person with crypto.getRandomValues() (W3C Web Cryptography API) without modulo bias, each with the same chance – 1 in 6 with six players. Only then is the spin calculated so that the neck lands in that person’s sector, never exactly on a boundary. The number of turns is just for show.

The names stay in your browser, which remembers them locally for your next visit (“Reset inputs” clears them). When you share, they are part of the link – leave names out if you do not want that.

    Frequently asked questions

How does spin the bottle online work?

Enter names or choose the number of players and tap “Spin”. The bottle turns and points to a randomly drawn person.

Is this spin the bottle fair?

Yes. Everyone has the same chance because the result is drawn with the browser’s cryptographic random numbers before the animation. Only with “Never the same person twice in a row” is the last person skipped on the next spin.

    How many people can play?

Two to 16. With many names the text gets smaller and long names are shortened.

Can I play spin the bottle with truth or dare?

Yes, that is the most common way: the person picked answers a question honestly or does a dare. Make sure everything suits the group and nobody is put on the spot.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, in any current browser. Put the phone in the middle of the table – the names sit in a circle just like the players.
