Draft order generator
This draft order generator settles who picks first: paste the managers or team names of your league, press “Draw now” and the complete pick order appears, from first pick to last. Every order is equally likely, so nobody can say the commissioner fixed it. It works just as well for a fantasy league as for a rec league, a schoolyard pick or a class presentation order.

How it is calculated
The draft order generator shuffles your list once and reads it from top to bottom: first name = first pick. With 10 names there are 3,628,800 possible orders, and each of them is equally likely.
How to draw a draft order
- Replace the sample names with the managers or teams of your league, one per line.
- Leave the mode on Draw the full draft order.
- Press Draw now – ideally while everyone is watching in a video call or on a shared screen.
- Press Copy result and paste the order into the league chat.
What are my chances of picking first?
| League size | Chance of the first pick | Possible draft orders |
|---|---|---|
| 8 names | 1 in 8 = 12.5% | 40,320 |
| 10 names | 1 in 10 = 10% | 3,628,800 |
| 12 names | 1 in 12 = 8.33% | 479,001,600 |
| 14 names | 1 in 14 = 7.14% | 87,178,291,200 |
The same holds for every other slot: with 10 names, each manager has a 10% chance of landing on any given pick.
Snake draft or linear draft
The generator gives you the order of round 1. In a linear draft every round uses that order again. In a snake draft the order reverses each round: in a 10-team league the manager with pick 1 also gets picks 20 and 21, and the manager with pick 10 gets picks 10 and 11. Decide the format before you draw.
A draw nobody can argue with
The order comes from a Fisher–Yates shuffle fed by the browser’s cryptographic random number generator – not from a pattern and not from the person pressing the button. To make it transparent, draw live in front of the league, or let the newest member press the button. If a name appears twice in the list, the page warns you, because that name would have a higher chance in single draws.
Weighted draft orders
Some leagues give last season’s weaker teams a better shot at an early pick. You can do that by hand: enter a team several times, switch to “Draw single names” with “Remove drawn names” ticked, and draw pick by pick, deleting the extra entries of a team once it has been drawn. For a visual version with weights, the spin the wheel tool accepts entries such as “Team A *3”.
More than drafts
The same draw sets the batting order for a backyard game, the order of presentations in class, the serving order at a club night or who chooses first at a gift swap – for that there is also the white elephant number generator. To split players into sides, use the random team generator; to draw first-round pairings, the random matchup generator.
Frequently asked questions
How do I randomize a draft order?
Paste the names of all managers, one per line, and press “Draw now”. The list is shuffled; the first name has the first pick, the second name the second pick, and so on.
Is the draft order generator fair?
Yes. Every possible order has the same probability. With 10 names each manager has a 10% chance of the first pick.
Does it work for a snake draft?
Yes. Draw the order for round 1; in a snake draft you reverse it for round 2, use it again for round 3, and so on.
How many teams can I enter?
As many as your league has – 8, 10, 12, 14 or more. The list takes several hundred names.
Can I weight the draw towards weaker teams?
Not automatically. Enter a team more than once and draw single names pick by pick, or use the wheel tool with weights such as “Team A *3”.
Can I redo the draw?
Technically yes – each press gives a new, independent order. For trust, agree beforehand that the first draw counts and do it in front of the league.
How do I share the result?
“Copy result” puts the order on the clipboard, ready to paste into your league chat or an email.
Are the names stored anywhere?
They stay in your browser and are not part of the page address. Only the “Share” button creates a link that carries the list.
