Dominoes score keeper online

This dominoes score keeper replaces the pad and pencil: after every hand, type the points next to the player or team that scored them and the sheet adds the running total, shows who is ahead and announces the winner as soon as someone reaches the target you agreed on.

How it is calculated

In the classic block and draw games, the player who plays their last domino wins the hand and scores the total number of pips left in the opponents’ hands. Hands are added up until one side reaches the target. This dominoes score keeper does the adding and tells you when the game is over.

How to use the score keeper

  1. Under “Players or teams”, keep “Us” and “Them” or type your names, one per line. Up to eight players or teams fit on the sheet.
  2. Set “Play to” to the target your table uses.
  3. When a hand ends, count the pips and type the points into the row of whoever scored them. Rows left empty count as 0.
  4. Press Enter hand. The sheet adds the totals, shows the leader and lists the hand under “Hands entered”. Undo hand removes the last entry.

How scoring works in dominoes

A standard double-six set has 28 tiles. Every tile is worth the sum of its two ends: the 6-4 counts 10, the 3-blank counts 3 and the double six counts 12.

Example: your team goes out, and the opponents are left with the 5-3, the 2-1 and the 6-6. That is 8 + 3 + 12 = 23 points for your team – type 23 into your row and leave the other row empty.

Type of gameWhat you enter after a hand
Block or draw dominoesthe pips left in the losers’ hands, in the winner’s row
Blocked hand (nobody can play)usually the side with fewer pips wins the hand; enter the points your house rule awards
Fives (Muggins, All Fives)the points each side made during the hand – multiples of five – plus the points for going out
Fives and threesthe points each pair scored in the “end”

What do you play to?

There is no single official target – it depends on the game and on the table. Agree on it before the first hand and enter it under “Play to”. The sheet starts at 100. Example: playing to 100 with the score at 92 to 88, “Us” wins a hand worth 15: the score becomes 107 to 88 and the game ends.

Frequently asked questions

How do you keep score in dominoes?

In block and draw games the winner of a hand scores the pips left in the opponents’ hands. Write that number down after every hand and add the hands up until someone reaches the agreed target.

How many points do you need to win at dominoes?

It depends on the game and the house rules – there is no single official number. Set your target under “Play to”; the sheet is preset to 100 and accepts any number from 10 to 9995.

How much is each domino worth?

The sum of its two ends. The double six is worth 12, the 6-5 is worth 11, and the double blank is worth 0.

What happens when the game is blocked?

If nobody can play, the players count the pips in their hands. In most rules the side with the lower count wins the hand; how many points it receives is a house rule, so enter the number your table uses.

Can I score Fives or Muggins with this?

Yes. Enter for each side the points it made during the hand. Both rows can have a number in the same hand.

Can more than two players or teams use the sheet?

Yes, between two and eight. Write one name per line and every player gets their own row.

How do I correct a wrong entry?

“Undo hand” deletes the last hand. Then enter it again with the right numbers.

Is the score saved?

Yes, in the page on your device. It survives a reload, and the share button gives you a link that reopens the same game.
