How it is calculated

Number lines show how numbers are ordered, how far apart they are and roughly where a number sits – a core idea behind counting on, rounding, decimals and negative numbers.

How it works

  1. Pick a range: to 10, 20, 50, 100 or 1,000, −10 to 10, −20 to 20, or tenths up to 1 or 2.
  2. Pick a task: labeled template, fill in the missing numbers, or name the numbers at arrows A–D.
  3. “Create PDF” – answer keys follow the worksheets.

Layout

Small ticks mark every step, medium ticks every five, and long ticks are labeled (every number up to 20, the tens up to 100, the hundreds up to 1,000). Spacing is exactly even and each line ends in an arrowhead.

Honest limits

Fraction number lines (¼, ⅓) and custom windows such as 340–360 are not available yet; use “0 to 1 (tenths)” for decimals.

Frequently asked questions

Which ranges are available?

0–10, 0–20, 0–50, 0–100 and 0–1,000, plus −10 to 10 and −20 to 20 for negative numbers and 0–1 or 0–2 in tenths for decimals.

Do the worksheets come with answers?

Yes. For “missing numbers” and “arrows” every worksheet page is followed by an answer page.

Can I print a blank number line?

The template is fully labeled. For an almost blank line choose “Fill in the missing numbers” – only the first number stays and about half the labels are missing.

How do I share a worksheet?

Copy the page link – it stores every setting and the version number.
