Sticker Maker: Turn a Photo into a Sticker

A WhatsApp sticker is a 512 × 512 pixel WebP image with a transparent background and a maximum of 100 KB. This sticker maker cuts out your subject, adds a white border and saves it in exactly that format – right in your browser, without uploading the photo.

JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC – one image, up to 50 MB

Tip: you can also paste images with Ctrl + V.

Your files are processed only in your browser and never uploaded – they don’t leave your device.

The first time, the AI model loads once (approx. 66 MB) from this website and then stays stored in your browser.

How it is calculated

How to make a sticker from a photo

  1. Drop in a photo, pick one or paste it with Ctrl + V.
  2. Click “Make sticker” – an AI model cuts out the subject and adds a white border. To keep the background (for a screenshot, say), tick “Keep background”.
  3. Adjust border, shadow, cropping and text: the preview updates instantly without analysing the photo again.
  4. Choose a format and download. The dimensions and file size of the finished file are shown.

Using it in WhatsApp

In WhatsApp Web and the desktop app you can upload the file as a sticker via “Create” in the sticker panel. On a phone, use WhatsApp’s built-in sticker editor or a sticker app that accepts WebP files. According to WhatsApp, a sticker pack needs at least 3 stickers.

Technology and privacy

The cut-out uses the same AI model as Remove Background (BiRefNet, MIT licence), run with ONNX Runtime Web on your graphics card or processor. The white border is built with an exact distance calculation around the outline, so it follows the subject smoothly and evenly instead of just enlarging it. Your photo never leaves your device; the first cut-out downloads about 66 MB of model data once from this website.

For a plain crop without a sticker border, use Crop Image.

Frequently asked questions

What size does a WhatsApp sticker have to be?

Exactly 512 × 512 pixels in WebP format with a transparent background; a static sticker may be 100 KB at most. This tool creates exactly that file and shows its size.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Cutting out, border and export all run in your browser. Only the AI model and program files are loaded from this website.

How do I make a sticker without the white border?

Slide “White border” all the way to the left – it then reads “off” and the subject is saved without a border.

Can I keep the background?

Yes. Tick “Keep background” and nothing is cut out; the image just gets the border, text and the right format. No AI model is loaded in that case.

Does it work on an iPhone?

Yes, in Safari. Safari cannot save WebP, though, so the sticker is saved as a 512 × 512 PNG. Chrome, Edge and Firefox create WebP files.

Does it work for Telegram too?

Yes. The Telegram formats have one side of exactly 512 pixels and the other up to 512 – as PNG or WebP, as Telegram requires for static stickers.
