How it is calculated
Not every device has a PDF reader, and not everyone wants to install Adobe Acrobat for a single file. This viewer displays PDFs with pdf.js, the open-source engine Firefox uses. It runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook, iPhone and Android – including school and work computers where you are not allowed to install anything.
How it works
- Drop in or choose a PDF. Password-protected PDFs open with their password.
- Scroll with the mouse wheel, swipe or use ‹ ›, or jump straight to a page number. The table of contents (if the PDF has bookmarks) takes you to every chapter.
- Search: type a term and press Enter – all matches are highlighted, ↑ and ↓ jump between them. Upper/lower case and accents do not matter.
- Zoom to “Page width”, “Whole page” or 50–300%, rotate the view, use night mode in the dark and full screen for presenting.
- Read page aloud uses your device’s text-to-speech – handy for long texts or proof-listening.
More than just viewing
You can select and copy text, and links in the PDF are clickable. Document info shows title, author, creating application, PDF version, creation and modification dates, page size and whether form fields are present – useful for checking where a file comes from. To keep 500-page manuals smooth, the viewer only renders the pages currently on screen.
Honest limits
This viewer is for reading: to fill in forms, add text or sign, use Edit PDF and Sign PDF. Search only finds real text, not text inside scanned images – run PDF to text with OCR first. Read-aloud voices come from your operating system, so available languages depend on the device.
Privacy
The PDF is not uploaded. Only the PDF engine is loaded once from this server; your password and search terms stay on your device too.
Thumbnails, printing and keyboard
Thumbnails shows an overview of all pages – one click jumps to a page; only the visible previews are drawn, so even a 500-page manual stays smooth. Print hands the original file to your browser’s PDF display, so the printout is as sharp as the PDF itself. Some phones cannot do that: save the file and print it from the Files app instead. On a computer you can run the viewer from the keyboard – the keys are listed below the document – and paste a copied PDF with Ctrl + V.

Can a PDF be read aloud to me?
Yes: “Read page aloud” reads the current page with your device’s text-to-speech. It does not work on scanned pages without text.
Does the viewer work on phones and tablets?
Yes, on Android and iPhone/iPad in the browser. With “Page width” the page fits the screen.
Is my PDF stored anywhere?
No. The file is only opened in your browser’s memory; once you close the tab it is gone.
