How it is calculated
How to convert time units
Every conversion goes through seconds: the value is multiplied by the seconds per starting unit and divided by the seconds per target unit. The factors come from the International System of Units (SI brochure, BIPM) and NIST SP 811: 1 minute = 60 s, 1 hour = 3,600 s, 1 day = 86,400 s. A week has 7 days, which is 604,800 seconds or 168 hours.

Decimal hours or hours and minutes?
1.5 hours means 1 hour 30 minutes, not 1:50. To get decimal hours, divide the minutes by 60 (45 min = 0.75 h). The converter also shows every result as h:mm:ss and split into days, hours, minutes and seconds, and you can type a duration such as 2:45:30 directly. Months and years
Months and years vary in length. By default the tool uses the average Gregorian calendar year of 365.2425 days (97 leap years every 400 years) and a month of 30.436875 days. You can switch to a common year (365 days) or the Julian year used in astronomy (365.25 days). For real calendar dates, such as days until December 25, use the date calculator; for spans with clock times, the time calculator.
Leap seconds, which are occasionally added to UTC days, are ignored.

How do I convert seconds to minutes?
Divide the seconds by 60: 150 seconds ÷ 60 = 2.5 minutes, i.e. 2 minutes 30 seconds.
How many seconds are in a day?
A day has 86,400 seconds (24 × 60 × 60), a week 604,800 and a 365-day year 31,536,000 seconds.
How do I convert minutes to decimal hours?
Divide the minutes by 60: 45 minutes = 0.75 hours, 20 minutes = 0.333 hours. So 7 hours 45 minutes is 7.75 hours.
How many hours are in a year?
A common year has 8,760 hours (365 × 24), a leap year 8,784. The Gregorian average is 8,765.82 hours.
How many weeks are in a month?
About 4.35 weeks on average (30.44 days ÷ 7). A 30-day month is 4 weeks and 2 days.
