World clock: current time around the world
This world clock shows the current time with seconds in the cities you care about – Los Angeles, New York, London, Tokyo and more – right next to your own time. Each city shows its date, time difference to you, UTC offset, daylight saving time and whether it is day or night there.

How it is calculated
How the world clock works
Your browser calculates every time from your device clock and the IANA time zone database, which records standard time and daylight saving rules for every region – the same database used by operating systems and phones. That is why unusual cases are right too: India is 5½ hours ahead of UTC, Nepal 5¾, and southern-hemisphere cities such as Sydney change their clocks in the opposite season to North America.
Each card shows the time with seconds, the date (marked “tomorrow” or “yesterday” when the city is already on another day), the time difference to you, the offset from Coordinated Universal Time and whether daylight saving time applies. A sun ☀ or moon ☾ shows whether the sun is above the horizon there – calculated with NOAA’s solar formulas, not guessed from the clock.
Choosing cities
Use “Add a city” to add up to twelve of more than 120 major cities, and × to remove one. Cards are sorted from west to east. Your selection is remembered by your browser and can be passed on as a link with “Share”. “12/24 hours” switches between 2:30 PM and 14:30.
Meeting planner, search and order
Tick “Plan a meeting” and use the slider to set a time of day for yourself, in 15-minute steps. Every card then shows what time it is in that city at that moment, with the date if it is already tomorrow or still yesterday there. Cities where the meeting falls between 8 am and 6 pm are highlighted and night hours (10 pm to 7 am) are dimmed; a line below tells you how many cities are within normal working hours. Daylight saving time and the different switch dates are included. In “Search for a city” type a name and press Enter to add it; “Order” sorts the cards west to east, as added or by name.
Good to know
In the US, daylight saving time runs from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November (15 U.S.C. § 260a); Europe changes on the last Sundays of March and October. For a few weeks each year New York is therefore only four hours behind London instead of five. Arizona (except the Navajo Nation) and Hawaii stay on standard time. To plan a call across several zones, use the time zone meeting planner; for two countries over the year, the time difference tool. Check your device clock with the exact time.
Frequently asked questions
What time is it in London right now?
The world clock above shows it to the second. London uses GMT (UTC+0) in winter and BST (UTC+1) in summer, so it is five hours ahead of New York most of the year.
What is UTC?
Coordinated Universal Time, the reference for all time zones. It roughly matches London in winter and never changes for daylight saving.
Why does a city show “tomorrow”?
The next calendar day has already started there. In the evening in the Americas it is already the next morning in Tokyo or Sydney.
Does the world clock handle daylight saving time?
Yes. Offsets and daylight saving rules come from the IANA database built into your browser, including the different switch dates in the US, Europe and Australia.
How accurate is it?
As accurate as your device clock, which is usually synced over the internet. The seconds are shown live and update every second.
