How to make a Gantt chart
- Enter the task, start and end – both days count, so a task from the 1st to the 5th lasts 5 days.
- Optionally pick a predecessor: the task should only start once the predecessor has finished (finish-to-start, the usual dependency in project planning).
- If a task starts too early, the tool flags a conflict. Align dependencies moves such tasks later and keeps their duration; tasks are never moved earlier.
- Save as PNG for slides, as SVG, or as CSV for Excel – or print it directly.
In the table, “Duration” shows calendar days and working days (Monday to Friday, public holidays not included).
Week numbers and weekends
Above the time axis you see ISO 8601 week numbers: weeks start on Monday and week 1 is the week containing 4 January – the week with the year’s first Thursday (as described in the POSIX standard for strftime %V). Weekends are shaded; with the option on, an aligned task starts on the next working day.
Excel and CSV
“CSV for Excel” writes one row per task with name, start, end, duration, working days and predecessor (comma-separated, UTF-8). “Load CSV” reads such a file or your own table with task, start and end columns; dates as YYYY-MM-DD or DD.MM.YYYY.
Privacy and limits
The project is stored only in your browser (localStorage) and never uploaded. The tool has no resources, holidays or critical-path analysis – fine for small and medium projects; for large programmes use dedicated software.

What does a dependency mean in a Gantt chart?
Here: finish-to-start. The task only starts once its predecessor is complete. If it starts earlier, the tool shows a conflict and can move it automatically.
How are week numbers counted?
According to ISO 8601: weeks start on Monday and week 1 is the week with the first Thursday of January. The POSIX standard describes the same rule for strftime %V.
Can I use the Gantt chart in PowerPoint?
Yes. “Save PNG” creates an image for PowerPoint or Word; the SVG file scales without losing quality.
Are public holidays taken into account?
No. Working days are Monday to Friday. Add holidays as a separate task or adjust the dates by hand.
