How to use the teleprompter
- Paste your script into the text box. Below it you see the word count and the approximate speaking time at the current pace.
- Set the pace in words per minute – 130 is just a starting value. Do a test read and adjust with + and − until the text matches how you speak.
- Press “Start” or click the display. The line at the red reading line is the one you are speaking.
- For recording choose Fullscreen (key F); Esc leaves it.
How the pace is calculated
The tool spreads the height of the text evenly across the words: at 130 words per minute the text moves so that 130 words pass the reading line each minute. That fits evenly written text well; headings or very long paragraphs shift it slightly. The speaking time shown is therefore an estimate.
Mirror mode for glass prompters
In classic teleprompter setups a screen below the camera shows the text mirrored, and a semi-transparent glass in front of the lens reflects it the right way round to the speaker. Choose “Horizontal” for this. Whether your rig also needs vertical mirroring depends on the device – just try the settings. The red reading line moves along when you mirror vertically.
Remote and keyboard
Space starts and pauses, the up and down arrows change the pace, Page Up/Down and the left/right arrows jump a few lines back or forward. Presentation remotes that send Page Up/Down therefore work as well.
Privacy
Your script is not added to the address bar and is not sent anywhere. It is stored only in your browser (localStorage) so it is still there after a reload; “Clear text” removes it.

Is this teleprompter free?
Yes, with no sign-up and no app. It runs directly in the browser on a laptop, tablet or phone.
What pace should I use?
That depends on you and your text. Start at the preset value, do a test read and adjust with + and − until the text keeps time with your voice.
What is mirror mode for?
For rigs with a glass screen in front of the camera: the display shows the text mirrored and the glass turns it the right way round. Without such a rig, leave it off.
Can I use a presentation remote?
Yes, if it sends Page Up/Page Down or arrow keys. The text then jumps a few lines forward or back; the space bar starts and pauses.
Is my script uploaded?
No. The text stays in your browser and is not part of the URL. “Clear text” deletes it from storage.
