Tambola Number Generator and Calling Board

This tambola number generator replaces the bag of coins: it calls the numbers 1 to 90 in random order, each exactly once. Tap for the next number or let it call automatically every few seconds. The board shows everything called so far, and a quick check tells you whether a claim for a line or a full house is good. Perfect for housie at kitty parties, family get-togethers and WhatsApp games.

How it is calculated

Tambola – also called housie – is played with the numbers 1 to 90. The caller draws them one by one, each only once, and players strike them on their tickets. This page does the calling: it picks the next number at random from those not yet called, shows it in large type and marks it on the board.

How to use the number generator

  1. Press “Call a number” and announce the number shown.
  2. The number is marked on the 1–90 board; the five numbers before it stay visible under “Previous numbers”.
  3. When a player claims a prize, type the numbers of the claimed line or ticket into “Check a claim”. You see at once whether all of them have been called and, if not, which are missing.
  4. Pressed twice by mistake? “Take back last number” puts the number back.

Automatic calling

Under “Automatic calling” choose 5, 8 or 12 seconds and press “Start automatic calling”. The generator then calls a new number at that pace until you stop it or all 90 are out – useful when the host is playing too. A short sound marks each number; the number itself is shown on screen, not spoken.

Is the calling fair?

Yes. For every call, one of the remaining numbers is picked with the browser’s secure random generator (crypto.getRandomValues()), and each remaining number has the same chance. On the first call that is 1 in 90 (about 1.11%); with 10 numbers left it is 1 in 10 (10%). A number can never come twice.

Checking a claim: example

The numbers called so far are 5, 17, 33, 48, 72 and 9. A player claims the top line with 5, 17, 33, 48, 72 – type those five numbers and the check says “Valid claim: all 5 numbers have been called.” Another player claims with 5, 17, 34 – the check answers “Not yet: 2 of 3 numbers have been called. Still missing: 34.”

Common prizes in a tambola game

ClaimWhat the player needs
Early five (jaldi five)any five numbers on the ticket
Top, middle or bottom lineall five numbers of that row
Four cornersthe first and last numbers of the top and bottom rows
Full houseall fifteen numbers on the ticket

Which of these are played is up to the host and should be announced before the first number.

Playing on WhatsApp or a video call

The numbers called are stored in the page address and in your browser, so the game continues after a reload. “Share” creates a link with the board as it stands – post it in the group and everyone can see what has been called. For a TV or projector, use “Full screen”.

Frequently asked questions

How many numbers are there in tambola?

Ninety – the numbers 1 to 90. Each is called exactly once, so after 90 calls the game is over at the latest.

Can the numbers be called automatically?

Yes. Choose 5, 8 or 12 seconds under “Automatic calling” and press “Start automatic calling”. You can stop and continue at any time.

Does the generator speak the numbers?

No. It shows each number in large type and plays a short sound; the host reads the number out. That keeps the page working on every phone without extra permissions.

How do I check whether a claim is correct?

Type the numbers of the claimed line or ticket into “Check a claim”, for example “5 17 33 48 72”. The tool confirms the claim or lists the numbers that have not been called yet.

Will the game be lost if I reload the page?

No. The numbers called are saved in your browser and return when the page opens again. They are cleared only with “New game” (tap twice) or “Reset inputs”.

Can everyone see the board during an online game?

Share your screen in the video call, or send the “Share” link from time to time – it shows the board exactly as it stands at that moment.

Is this the same as a 1 to 90 random number generator?

It is one made for housie: numbers never repeat, the board shows what is out, and claims can be checked.
