How it is calculated
How to make your seating chart
- Paste names, one per line – straight from Excel, a chat or your guest list – and tap “Add names”.
- Add tables: round (up to 14 seats) or rectangular banquet tables (up to 24 seats). Three round tables with 8 seats each are already set up; use “+” and “−” to change the number of seats.
- Seat your guests: drag a name onto a seat, or tap the name and then the seat. If the seat is taken, the two swap. “Fill seats automatically” fills all empty seats in order – a handy starting point.
- Print: you get the tables with names plus, on a separate page, an alphabetical “name – table, seat” list for the entrance.
Tips for weddings and parties
- Place the fixed seats first (couple, family, children with parents), then fill the rest.
- For a classroom, add one rectangular table per row of desks and name it, e.g. “Row 1”.
- Use “Save as file” to move the chart to another device or send it to your maid of honour.
Keyboard use
Every name and seat is a button: Tab moves between them, Enter selects a guest and places them on the next seat you choose. Esc clears the selection and Delete sends a selected guest back to the list. Drag and drop uses the browser’s HTML Drag and Drop API.
Privacy
Names are personal data, so the seating chart is kept only in your browser’s storage (localStorage). It is never sent to a server or put into the address bar. “Start over” deletes everything from this browser.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a wedding seating chart?
Paste your guest list, add tables with the right number of seats and drag guests onto seats. Then print – including an alphabetical name list for the entrance.
Can I make a classroom seating chart?
Yes. Add a rectangular table for each row and paste your class list. Move students by tapping or dragging; occupied seats are swapped.
Can I import names from Excel?
Yes. Select the column with the names in Excel, copy it and paste it into the field – each line becomes a guest. Semicolons or tabs also separate names.
How do I print the seating chart?
“Print” opens the print dialog with only the tables and an alphabetical name list. Choose “Save as PDF” there to get a PDF file.
Where is my data stored?
Only in your browser on this device. To use another device, save the chart as a file and open it there with “Load file”.
