    How it is calculated

A TXT file opens anywhere, but it looks different on every device – and many portals, agencies and application forms only accept PDF. This tool typesets your text cleanly onto pages: real word wrapping, even line spacing and adjustable margins. The text stays selectable and searchable in the PDF.

    How it works

    1. Drop in a TXT file – or simply type or paste text into the box. The sample is only there as a preview.
    2. Choose the page size (US Letter, US Legal, A4, A5), orientation, font, size and margins.
    3. Optionally add a title, page numbers (“1 / 3”) and line numbers – handy for minutes, code and proofreading.
    4. Click “Create PDF”, check the first page in the preview and download.

    Background: fonts and special characters

Helvetica, Times and Courier are among the 14 standard fonts every PDF reader knows (ISO 32000-1, 9.6.2.2). They are not embedded, so the file stays tiny – but they only cover Western European characters. If your text contains, say, Polish, Turkish, Greek or Cyrillic letters, the tool automatically embeds the free Noto Sans font. Characters none of these fonts have (such as emoji or Chinese and Japanese script) are replaced and listed. Tabs are expanded to stops every four characters; with Courier, columns and indented code line up exactly. A form feed character in the file starts a new page.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a TXT file to PDF?

Drop the TXT file in here, choose page size and font and click “Create PDF”. Download the PDF right away – no upload, no sign-up.

Can I paste text instead of choosing a file?

Yes. Just type or paste your text into the box (Ctrl + V) and click “Create PDF”.

How do I convert TXT to PDF on Windows 10 or 11?

In Notepad via File → Print → “Microsoft Print to PDF” – but without control over margins, font or page numbers. This browser tool lets you set all of that.

Is the text in the PDF searchable?

Yes, it is set as real text, not as an image, so you can select, copy and search it.
