Prayer Times Calculator
Share your location, search for a city or enter coordinates – the five daily prayer times and the next prayer appear instantly. Everything is calculated in your browser, for any place on earth.
How it is calculated
The five daily prayers follow the sun: Fajr begins at dawn, Dhuhr just after midday, Asr in the afternoon when shadows reach a certain length, Maghrib after sunset and Isha when evening twilight has ended. This calculator works out those moments astronomically for any place and any date.
How it works
- Choose a place: tap “Use my location”, search for a city or enter latitude, longitude and time zone.
- Check the method: “Automatic” uses the method common in your country – ISNA in the United States, the Moonsighting Committee in the United Kingdom. You can pick any other method.
- Asr by the majority view or Hanafi (shadow twice instead of once the object’s length, about an hour later).
- Below the result you find the monthly timetable and a calendar file with every prayer of the month.
Calculation methods and their angles
Fajr and Isha depend on how far the sun is below the horizon. Scholars and authorities use different angles:
- ISNA (North America) 15°/15°, Muslim World League 18°/17°, Egyptian Authority 19.5°/17.5°, Karachi 18°/18°.
- Moonsighting Committee: 18° with seasonal adjustment for middle and high latitudes; developed by Khalid Shaukat and widely used in the UK and North America.
- Umm al-Qura (Makkah): Fajr 18.5°, Isha 90 minutes after Maghrib.
- Diyanet (Turkey): Fajr 18°, Isha 17°, plus safety margins (temkin): sunrise −7, Dhuhr +5, Asr +4, Maghrib +7 minutes. Kemenag (Indonesia): Subuh 20°, Isya 18°, 2 minutes ihtiyat. France 12°: calendar of Musulmans de France (formerly UOIF).
The calculation uses the open-source library adhan (MIT licence). Spot check on 28 Sep 2026: for Istanbul and Ankara the times match the Diyanet timetable within one minute, for Jakarta and Surabaya the Kemenag timetable likewise. For London, Paris, Berlin and Amsterdam they differ from the Diyanet timetable by up to 5 minutes in September.
High latitudes: why summer needs a rule
In the UK, the Netherlands and Germany the sun does not sink 18° below the horizon on midsummer nights – in London only about 15°. There is then no astronomical Fajr or Isha. Common rules cap the times at a share of the night: one-seventh, the middle of the night or an angle-based share (angle/60). “Automatic” uses the pure angle as long as the sun sinks at least 3° deeper than needed, and otherwise one-seventh of the night from 48° latitude. The Moonsighting Committee method has its own seasonal rule and needs no extra setting.
Honest limits
Calculated times are a forecast, not a religious ruling. Mosques round, add their own margins or adopt other angles; in Ramadan minutes matter. Follow your mosque or the responsible authority. Elevation, weather and the local horizon are not taken into account.

Frequently asked questions
What time is Fajr today?
It depends on where you are: Fajr begins at true dawn, when the sun is 15° to 20° below the horizon depending on the method. Enter your city above or use your location to see today’s Fajr and the time left until the next prayer.
Which calculation method should I use in the UK?
Many UK mosques follow the Moonsighting Committee or publish their own timetable; others use the Muslim World League. Pick the method your mosque uses – “Automatic” starts with the Moonsighting Committee for the UK and ISNA for the United States.
Why is Isha so late in summer?
North of about 48° latitude it never gets fully dark in June and July, so the sun does not reach the Isha angle. A high-latitude rule such as one-seventh of the night then sets Isha, typically between about 10:20 pm and 11:30 pm in London.
What is the difference between Hanafi and Shafi Asr?
For the majority, Asr begins when an object’s shadow equals its length plus its noon shadow; for the Hanafi school, when it is twice the length. Hanafi Asr is therefore roughly 30 to 75 minutes, depending on place and season later.
Why do prayer apps show different times?
They use different angles, margins and rounding. Diyanet adds fixed temkin minutes, Kemenag 2 minutes of ihtiyat. Choose the same method as your mosque and the times usually agree within a minute.
How do I add prayer times to my calendar?
Tap “Month as calendar file (.ics)”. The file contains all five prayers of the month as events and can be imported into Google Calendar, Outlook and Apple Calendar.
