White Screen
One click and your whole screen glows white – or in any colour you like. Everything runs only in your browser, no app, no sign-up.
How it is calculated
Sometimes all you need is a bright, even surface: light for a video call, a backlight for tracing a drawing, or a way to spot dust and smudges on your monitor. This page turns your screen into a solid full-screen colour – white, black, a preset colour or your own.
How it works
- Pick a colour: white, black, red, green, blue, yellow or a custom colour from the colour picker.
- Use the brightness slider (10–100 %) to dim the surface if needed.
- Optionally set a timer (1 to 60 minutes). When it runs out, the surface turns black and full screen ends – handy as a sleep light.
- Click “Start full screen”. A click, a tap or the Esc key ends it.
The mouse pointer hides after two seconds without movement. Where the browser supports it, the page also keeps the screen awake (Wake Lock) so it doesn’t dim or lock while it is showing.
What a white screen is good for
- Video light and ring light substitute: a second monitor, tablet or laptop showing white lights up your face on video calls. A slightly warm custom colour looks less cold than pure white.
- Tracing: place paper on a tablet and trace the lines of a template – a simple light box. Don’t press too hard on the display.
- Cleaning your screen: black shows dust and fingerprints, white shows streaks. Clean it while it is switched off or black.
- Night light: a red or heavily dimmed surface is less dazzling than bright white, e.g. as an orientation light.
- Checking displays: solid colours reveal uneven backlight, colour tints and pixel defects. For a systematic check use the dead pixel test, which steps through the test colours.
Honest limits
A web page cannot increase your screen’s brightness. The slider only dims the colour surface; for more light, turn your display brightness up to the maximum in the system settings. How bright and how neutral the white looks depends on your device – a monitor is not a calibrated studio light. Night mode filters (Night Shift, Night light, blue light filters) tint white yellow; turn them off if you need neutral light. Whether full screen and keeping the screen awake work is up to the browser; on iPhone, Safari limits real full screen, so the surface fills the browser window instead.
Privacy
The surface is generated entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored, and neither camera nor microphone is used.

Frequently asked questions
How do I make my screen completely white?
Choose “White” and click “Start full screen”. The white surface fills the entire screen; a click, tap or Esc ends it.
Can I use my screen as a light for video calls?
Yes. Put a tablet or second monitor showing white in front of you and turn the display brightness up. A slightly yellowish custom colour gives warmer light than pure white.
Why doesn’t my screen get brighter?
A web page cannot control display brightness. The slider on this page only dims. For maximum light, turn brightness all the way up in your system settings or control centre.
Will my screen turn off while the white screen is on?
Usually not: where the browser supports the Wake Lock API, the screen stays awake. Otherwise your device’s auto-lock applies – extend it in the settings if needed.
How does the timer work?
After the chosen time (1 to 60 minutes) the surface turns black and full screen ends, so you can use the screen light as a reading or sleep light.
Can I show a black or coloured screen instead?
Yes: black, red, green, blue and yellow are built in, and the colour picker lets you choose any other colour.
Does the white screen work on a phone?
Yes, in current browsers on Android and iOS. On iPhone, Safari doesn’t allow real full screen for web pages, so the surface fills the browser window.
Can I find dead pixels with a white screen?
Dark, dead pixels stand out well on white. For a complete check use the dead pixel test, which shows all test colours one after another.
