Keyword combiner
Enter one term per line in each list – the keyword combiner joins every entry with every other, for example action × product × audience. Copy the result straight into ad groups in Google Ads or use it as a list of topics.
How it is calculated
How the keyword combiner works
Every entry from list 1 is joined with every entry from list 2 (and lists 3 and 4, if used). The number of combinations is the product of the list lengths: 2 actions × 2 products × 2 audiences = 8 keywords.
| List 1 | List 2 | List 3 | Result (excerpt) |
|---|---|---|---|
| buy order | running shoes sneakers | women men | buy running shoes women buy running shoes men buy sneakers women … order sneakers men |
With “all orders”, every arrangement of the lists is built as well. Three lists can be arranged in 3 × 2 × 1 = 6 ways, so the example gives 8 × 6 = 48 keywords. If you select several match types, the number of lines doubles or triples.
Match types in Google Ads
| Match type | Syntax |
|---|---|
| Broad match | buy running shoes |
| Phrase match | "buy running shoes" |
| Exact match | [buy running shoes] |
This is how the Google Ads Help describes it. Broad match is the default and, according to Google, also covers the searches of the narrower types. Google also points out that very similar keywords such as “red car” and “car red” count as duplicates – so “all orders” is mainly useful for topic and idea lists, less for broad match keywords.
What the tool deliberately doesn’t do
The combiner shows no search volume, cost per click or competition data – it only combines your terms. You can check whether a combination is actually searched for in the Google Ads Keyword Planner, for example. Duplicate entries (including ones that differ only in upper/lower case) are removed. For performance reasons, at most 10,000 lines are output. Your lists stay in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
How many combinations will I get?
The product of the list lengths: 5 × 10 × 3 terms give 150 keywords. With “all orders” you multiply by the number of possible arrangements (2 lists: × 2, 3 lists: × 6, 4 lists: × 24), and every extra match type adds another set of lines.
How do I write phrase match and exact match?
Phrase match in quotation marks: "buy running shoes". Exact match in square brackets: [buy running shoes]. Broad match without any symbols. That way you can paste the lines straight into Google Ads.
Does the tool show search volume?
No. It only works out combinations of your terms and doesn’t make up any numbers. Search volume is available, for example, in the Keyword Planner in your Google Ads account.
Can I join keywords together, for example for hashtags or domains?
Yes: choose the separator “none”. Then “running” and “shoes” become “runningshoes”. With a hyphen you get variants like “running-shoes-women”.
