How it is calculated

Comparing two lists means forming three sets: what is only in the first, what is only in the second and what is in both. The tool does this in your browser for names, e-mail addresses, article numbers or Excel columns – without formulas and without an upload.

How it works

  1. Paste list A and list B, ideally straight from Excel or a text file (one entry per line; the tool also detects commas, semicolons and tabs).
  2. Optionally ignore case and accents and choose the sorting.
  3. Copy the four result lists: only in A, only in B, in both, all together.

What it is useful for

Limits

Entries are compared as a whole, not by similarity: “Müller” and “Mueller” are different. Spaces at the start and end do not count; duplicate entries within a list are counted and listed only once.

Privacy

Your lists never leave the browser. Next steps: sort alphabetically, compare texts or clean up text.

Frequently asked questions

How can I compare two lists online?

Paste list A and list B into the fields. The tool shows at once what is only in A, only in B or in both.

How do I find out what is missing from list A but in list B?

That is the result “Only in B”. Likewise “Only in A” shows what is missing from list B.

Can I compare lists from Excel?

Yes. Select the column in Excel, copy it and paste it – each cell is one line. That compares columns without formulas.

Is case distinguished?

Not by default: “anna” and “Anna” count as equal. You can switch the tick off.

What happens to duplicate entries?

Within a list, duplicates are counted and listed only once in the results.

Are my lists uploaded?

No. The comparison runs entirely in your browser.
