How the calculator works
- Residence: 40 years in Canada after age 18 give the full pension; with 10 to 39 years you get 1/40 for each full year.
- Deferral: every month you start after 65 adds 0.6%, up to 36% at age 70.
- Age 75: the pension rises by 10% the month after your 75th birthday.
- Recovery tax: 15% of your net world income above $93,454 (2025 income) is taken back from July 2026 to June 2027, at most the whole pension.
Examples (age 65 to 74)
- 40 years, no deferral, income $60,000: $762.50 a month, no clawback.
- 25 years in Canada: 25/40 × $762.50 = $476.56 a month.
- Delayed 24 months: +14.4% = $872.30; delayed to 70 (60 months): +36% = $1,037.00.
- Income $100,000: ($100,000 − $93,454) × 15% = $981.90 clawback for the year.
- Income $130,000: clawback $5,481.90 of $9,150 – you keep $3,668.10 a year.
- Income $152,062 or more: the whole OAS pension is clawed back.

Limits
OAS amounts are indexed to inflation every January, April, July and October; the calculator uses the October–December 2026 rate for the whole year. The clawback for July 2026 to June 2027 is based on your 2025 net income and is deducted from each monthly payment. The Guaranteed Income Supplement, the Allowance, income tax on OAS and the non-resident tax are not included. If you live outside Canada you need 20 years of residence after 18.
