Poker odds calculator
This poker odds calculator turns outs, pot size and the bet you face into numbers: the chance to hit on the next card and by the river, the pot odds, the equity you need and the expected value of calling.
Example: Street: Flop (two cards to come) · Outs 9 · Pot 100 · Bet to call 50 → Hit chance: 9 outs: 19.1 % on the next card, 35 % by the river. Source: Wikipedia – Poker probability (Texas hold'em): outs and probabilities. Updated: .
How it is calculated
With a flush draw (9 outs) on the flop you hit 19.1 % on the next card and 35.0 % by the river; with 100 in the pot and 50 to call you only need 33.3 % equity. The calculator gives these numbers for your spot.
How it is calculated
- Hit on the next card: outs divided by unseen cards, 47 on the flop and 46 on the turn.
- By the river: 1 minus the chance of missing on both cards. With 9 outs on the flop that is 35.0 %.
- Pot odds: the bet divided by pot plus bet gives the equity you need at minimum.
- Expected value: hit chance times pot minus miss chance times the bet.
Typical outs
A flush draw has 9 outs, an open-ended straight draw 8, a gutshot 4, two overcards 6 and a pair to a set 2. The "rule of 2 and 4" multiplies outs by 2 for one card and by 4 for two cards and stays close to the exact values up to about 12 outs.

Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate pot odds?
The bet to call divided by pot plus bet. With 100 in the pot and 50 to call that is 50 divided by 150, or 33.3 %.
How do you count outs in poker?
Count the unseen cards that make your hand the best. A flush draw has 9 outs, an open-ended straight draw 8. The calculator turns them into a probability.
What is the rule of 2 and 4?
Outs times 2 gives the hit chance in percent for the next card, outs times 4 for turn and river together. It is a quick approximation of the exact number.
What are implied odds?
The extra winnings you expect when you hit and your opponent keeps betting. They are not part of the calculator.
Why does the number of unseen cards change?
You know your two cards and the board. On the flop 47 cards are unseen, on the turn 46, so one out is worth a little more on the turn.
