Discount card worth it calculator: find your break-even spend
Whether a discount card is worth it depends on how much you spend in a year. This discount card worth it calculator shows the break-even point: the spend at which the discount wins back the card price. Enter one or two cards – say one with 25% and one with 50% off – and see which is cheapest for your spending.

How it is calculated
A discount card is worth it when the discount on your spending saves more than the card costs. The break-even point is the card price divided by the discount: with a $50 card and 25% off it is $200 of spending a year.
How it is calculated
- No card: you pay your spending.
- With a card: card price plus spending × (1 − discount).
- Break-even against “no card”: card price ÷ discount.
- Card 2 against card 1: (price 2 − price 1) ÷ (discount 2 − discount 1) – from that spend the bigger discount pays off.
How to use the result
- Estimate your spending honestly: a card you use only just above the break-even saves little and ties you to the provider.
- The chart shows where the lines cross – the cheapest choice changes there.
- Watch the term and cancellation: if the card renews automatically, every further year counts again.
The calculator fits any card with a fixed yearly price and a percentage discount, without reference to a provider. All figures are your own. Your entries stay in your browser.

From a spend equal to the card price divided by the discount. With a $50 card and 25% off that is $200 a year; whatever you spend above it is saving.

Enter both. The calculator tells you from which spend the pricier card with the bigger discount beats the first, and shows it in the chart.
Does it work for my card?
Yes, if it has a fixed yearly price and gives a percentage discount on your spending. It is not tied to any provider.
What counts as yearly spend?
Everything you would pay at the normal price without the card, for example tickets, admissions or purchases at the provider where the card applies.
What if my spending varies?
Use a cautious figure. The chart also shows how the cost changes at higher and lower spending.
Are my entries private?
Yes. Everything is calculated in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
