How it is calculated

Markdown is a simple way to write formatted text: # for headings, **bold**, - item for lists. This tool converts it to HTML that you can paste into web pages, newsletters, shop descriptions or a CMS.

How to convert Markdown to HTML

  1. Paste your Markdown text into the field or use the sample text.
  2. Check the preview: this is how the text looks as a web page.
  3. Copy the HTML code or download it. With “Complete HTML document” you get a ready page whose title comes from the first heading.

What is supported

Headings (with # and with underlines), paragraphs, emphasis, bold, code inline and in blocks with a language label, quotes, nested lists, horizontal rules, links (including references), images and autolinks. The GitHub extensions add tables with alignment, strikethrough, task lists and automatic links. The conversion follows CommonMark but does not cover every corner case.

Safety and limits

Your text stays in your browser and is neither sent nor stored.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert Markdown to HTML?

Paste the Markdown text into the field and the HTML code appears immediately. You can copy it or download it as a file. The preview shows what the result looks like.

Which Markdown syntax is supported?

CommonMark with the GitHub extensions: headings, lists, quotes, code, links, images, tables, strikethrough and task lists. Footnotes and formulas are not included.

Is the HTML safe?

Yes. Embedded HTML and scripts are not passed through but escaped as text, and dangerous link targets are removed. For text from others, still check where links lead.

Can I use my own HTML inside Markdown?

No, that is deliberately excluded so the result stays safe. Add your own tags to the HTML code after the conversion.

How do I get tables and task lists?

Keep the GitHub extensions switched on. Write tables with vertical bars and a separator row of hyphens, and tasks as “- [ ] open” and “- [x] done”.

Is my text stored?

No. The conversion runs in your browser; the text is not sent, not stored and not written to the address bar.
