Block puzzle: play Block Grid online
Block Grid is a relaxed block puzzle with no timer: place the three shapes on offer, complete whole rows or columns and clear them. The game only ends when no shape fits anymore.

How it is calculated
How Block Grid works
The board is a grid of 8 × 8 squares. Below it there are always three shapes, from a single square up to a 3 × 3 block. You place each shape once on free squares; shapes cannot be rotated. When a row or column is completely filled, it disappears. Once all three shapes are placed, three new ones appear. The game is over when none of the remaining shapes fits into the grid.
- Pick a shape: tap or click it (keyboard: 1, 2 or 3).
- Place it: tap the square where the centre of the shape should go, or drag the shape straight onto the grid. The preview shows whether it fits and which lines will clear.
- Shapes that fit nowhere right now are shown faded – place another one first.
Scoring
- Each square you place scores 1 point.
- Cleared lines score 10 × lines²: one line 10, two at once 40, three 90 points.
- Streak: clear lines on several moves in a row and the line score is multiplied by the streak (×2, ×3 …). A move without a cleared line ends the streak.
This scoring is our own simple rule – other block puzzles count differently, so scores are not comparable.
Tips
- Keep room for the big shapes: the 3 × 3 block and the five-square bars end most games.
- Fill edges and corners first instead of breaking up the middle.
- Set up two lines at once – that is worth four times as much as one.
Fairness, storage and privacy
Shapes are drawn at random with the browser’s cryptography API. When a new set of three is dealt, it is redrawn if necessary until at least one shape fits – so a game never ends from sheer bad luck in the deal, only when the grid gets too full. Your high score, number of games and the current game are kept in your browser’s localStorage (key blockpuzzle), so you can continue later. Nothing is sent to a server.
Frequently asked questions
Can I play block puzzle online for free?
Yes. Block Grid runs right in your browser on phones, tablets and computers – no download, no app and no sign-up.
How do you play block puzzle?
Place the three shapes on offer into an 8 × 8 grid. Full rows and columns disappear and score points. The game ends when no shape fits anymore.
Can you rotate the blocks?
No, the shapes have a fixed orientation. Most shapes come in several orientations instead, for example the corner piece in all four directions.
How do I get a higher score?
Clear several lines at once (two lines give 40 instead of 2 × 10 points) and keep a streak going: every further move that clears a line multiplies the line score.
Is my game saved?
Yes, in your browser only: your high score and the current game stay until you clear the site data. In private mode both are lost when you close the page.
