How it is calculated
Blank manuscript paper is useful for composing, music lessons, ear training or copying out pieces. Here you decide how large the staves are and how many fit on a page.
How it works
- Choose a type: single staves, piano grand staves (pairs joined by a line) or six-line tablature for guitar.
- Set staves per page and staff height. Larger staves are easier for children and beginners.
- Choose paper size, margin and colour, then click “Create PDF”.
How it is calculated
The five lines of a staff are staff height ÷ 4 apart (÷ 5 for tab). Free space on the page is shared evenly between staves, leaving at least 0.9 × the staff height between them for ledger lines and lyrics. For piano, the gap inside a pair is smaller than between pairs. Millimetres go into the PDF via 1 in = 25.4 mm and 1 pt = 1/72 in (ISO 32000-1).
Honest limits
Only empty staves are printed – no clefs, bar lines or chord boxes. To engrave music on a computer you need notation software.
Frequently asked questions
How many staves fit on a page?
With an 8 mm staff and 15 mm margin, up to 16 staves fit on US Letter and 17 on A4; the default is 10 with more space between them. The line under the preview shows the number.
What is the difference between staff notation and tab?
Staff notation shows pitch on five lines. Guitar tab has six lines, one per string, and you write the fret number on the line.
Can I print piano staff paper?
Yes, choose “Piano”: each pair of staves for right and left hand is joined by a line at the start.
Are clefs already drawn in?
No, the staves are blank so the sheet works for any instrument and key.
