Markdown table generator
To generate a Markdown table, paste your data from Excel, Google Sheets or a CSV file; the tool turns it into a neatly aligned table, optionally in HTML or LaTeX.

How it is calculated
A Markdown table is a header row, a separator row of dashes and the data rows, divided by pipes. The colons in the separator row set the alignment: :--- left, :---: centred, ---: right.
How it is calculated
The text is split into rows and cells (tab when pasting from Excel, semicolon or comma for CSV, quotes per RFC 4180). The table is then built in the format you choose. With “Pad columns”, cells are padded with spaces to equal width so the table stays readable in the source. Columns holding only numbers are right-aligned.
Good to know
- Tables belong to GitHub Flavored Markdown; classic Markdown has none, but GitHub, GitLab, Obsidian and many wikis support them.
- The header row is mandatory in Markdown. Without a header it stays empty.
- Line breaks inside cells only work in Markdown with
<br>; the tool inserts it for you.
